So... I saw KINGS...
...and to avoid spoiling it for those who have yet to see it, I will put my thoughts under a cut (though I don't think there's any time zone left in which it hasn't already aired...) I'm... now understanding why no one told me about Michael being on this week's episode.

On a side note, before I spout my reactions to the episode, I have to say that KINGS is an absolutely AMAZING show - and of course, like all other amazing shows of substance, it'll be gone all too soon. :(

Damn. Just damn. My first thought was anger... anger at the writers for ruining my poor Joseph. WHY did they have him do something so stupid? WHY did they ruin his character so?

But then the story unfolded and that amazing scene occurred between Jack and Rose... and I finally understood. Jack admitted who he was for the very first time, AND admitted that he loved Joseph - all extremely lovely things... The fact, of course, that Joseph can no longer be in the show is unfortunate, but it was extremely necessary for the storyline to have evolved to that amazing scene above.

The one thing that does sadden me is that poor Michael only got three episodes. :(

But Michael-ness aside... Damn. Love the show... love that Jack showed his goodness by trying to make that trade at the end and eventually making that deal, love that it ended with Silas re-thinking all his loyalties... I'm looking forward to the next episode, but with only 4 episodes left, I'm unsure how it could possibly end without lots of questions being up in the air. Sad that none of them will ever be answered.

I can't say enough how much I love this show!

I thought good and hard about warning you, but then decided I didn't know the best way to do that without completely spoiling you.

I am so, so, so sad they killed Joseph off, but it was not a complete surprise. Thank *God* someone leaked the funeral photos months ago, so I was kind of prepared. And storywise, it does make a lot of sense. That Jack was able to tell Rose this is who he is is a *huge* step for Jack.

I do not know what Joseph could have been thinking. And one does wonder whether he really did kill himself or if Rose had him killed. I think, though, that while this is clearly painful for Jack, it will give him new purpose. And, at this point, given how she slapped him and called his gayness a "mistake of character," I am happy to see Rose taken down.

I agree, this is an amazing show, and I am so sad there isn't much left. Michael Green has promised that most of the stories get wrapped up by episode 13. Hopefully he's a man of his word.

Sorry to have not warned you!

Glad that you brought this up! This was my first thought when she knew very early on and with much certainty that Joseph was already dead. And yes, her slapping Jack and that comment about him being gay was infuriating.

Agreed that the events needed to unfold for Jack for him to have taken that big step. And I even think that Joseph did it - like Jack said, "to save him from himself" but I'm sure there are others in the fandom who don't quite feel charitable toward Joseph right now. :P This is part of the reason I never go to TV message boards or TV show communities.

Hopefully most of the storylines do get wrapped by Ep. 13. We'll just have to wait and see, I guess. But, yes,... no Michael watch for me anymore (though I love the show and will be watching until the end, of course!)
