YAY for FINALLY getting to see it almost three years later!! It was GORGEOUS! The story, the writing, the artestry... just stunningly beautiful! For those who haven't heard me babble about this movie for years, it's a modern day silent film that uses a music track as background and relies only on sign language and subtitles. GORGEOUS!
Anthony's performance... OH MY GOD. Stunning! I think it's odd that I met and got to know Anthony BEFORE seeing his work on the screen. When he first emailed me, I didn't even know who he was... I had to imdb him. Okay,... I mean, we all saw "Mr Holland's Opus" a long time ago... but I'd forgotten he'd played Richard Dreyfuss' grown son OR that he was the guy in the elevator who signed "You complete me" in "Jerry Maguire." I'd seen him in several other things since then, but never something that was as emotional and as powerful as this.
So it was sort of surreal to see him in the movie... Sometimes when you work with someone on a project, they just become "Anthony"... but then, I saw his amazing work on screen, and it was only then that I realized the "celebrity" that he is. He's EXTREMELY talented and I was literally blown away by the movie.
And Anthony is a handsome man in person... there's absolutely no denying this... but I have to say, the camera absolutely LOVES him! He is warm and pleasant, and very handsome in person, but on screen he is absolutely BEAUTIFUL!
The film is about Anthony's character (Andy, an IT manager) who lives with the guilt of having his former fiancee's 6 year old daughter die while in his care. He meets a librarian, Mary (played by Sabrina Lloyd) who he finally begins to open up to... it's a gorgeous love story with brilliant performances. The film also stars Margot Kidder, Robert Picardo, Troy Kotsur, and Deanne Bray.
Got to see him, Brian, and Troy after the movie and Anthony is always so gracious whenever I see him. He and I spoke for a while, but sadly, not as long as I would've liked. There were so many others who were waiting to speak with him - it was eye opening what a HUGE celebrity he was!! People were just surrounding him wanting photos with him and I really had to run to the airport to make my flight home... so I wasn't able to stay too long. But I did get to see him and tell him how wonderful I thought his work was - so I was happy. :)
The Egyptian Theatre - site of the big movie premiere!
With Anthony after the show. I'm so proud of him and his brilliant work! And it's always
SUCH a pleasure to see him!! :) :)
Brian and Anthony. :)
Brian and Troy. :) And Troy's character in the movie wasn't the most likable. Why does he
always play those roles when he's like, the nicest, sweetest guy ever?
With Brian. :) Will have to work on completing his site this weekend... AHHH!
Anthony and Deanne Bray at the Q&A... Deanne announced she's going to be on "Heroes" next season!!! WOO!
Posing with the movie poster. :)
This was the perfect end to my absolutely WONDERFUL, AMAZING weekend!! Seeing Anthony, his movie (FINALLY!!!!) and seeing how loved and admired he is in the deaf community just filled my heart with joy. I'm really so glad I made the trip out there and was able to see him! And the movie was gorgeous! If anyone has the chance to see it,... please do - it's just a beautiful piece of work!!
