Flea Market...

So, the Flea Market was moved to the Roseland Ballroom... and though it was inevitable because of all the rain, the lighting in the Roseland was really awful, the space just too cramped to accommodate everyone, and the crowd was just ridiculous!

I did manage to get a few things - a $10 Wonderette t-shirt, a reasons to be pretty shirt, a Secret Garden poster, the Leading Men IV dvd (that Kevin did! WOO!), a Papermill 1776 poster, and a few other things...

The 1pm autograph line was fun.

  • Montego Glover promised me a photo with her later in the photo booth, I told her how absolutely beautiful she is on stage and how much I adored the show and I told her I'd be back to see it this afternoon. (Later at the stage door she remembered me and said that they looked all over for me before she left the Flea Market because she wanted me to get my picture! She is SUCH a sweetheart, I can't even tell you! And absolutely radiant in person!!)

  • Will Chase was very funny and extremely nice. I told him that I loved his little stint on "The Battery's Down" and he laughed and said, "You know that there were some people who actually thought that was real? They actually thought I was in a show called 'Rollercoaster Highway.'" That was HYSTERICAL!

  • Then I talked to Greg Jbara, who I asked to sign a photo I took with him years ago when he was in Dirty Rotten Scoundrels. He said, "Wow! That was, like 30 pounds ago!" :D

  • Introduced myself to Loretta Ables Sayre and told her that I loved seeing someone from Hawaii up on the Broadway stage. She told me she was from Mililani and said that we fight the same traffic into town when I told her that I live in Ewa Beach. :) She was very nice and even introduced me to Brian Stokes Mitchell telling me, "Brian loves Hawaii, you know!"

  • Brian Stokes Mitchell was very nice and he spoke to me about Hawaii a bit and I embarrassingly admitted that I used to watch him on "Trapper John". He laughed and said, "Like when you were two?" :) Haha!! I love him! I was.... AHEM... much older than that! :)

  • Got to meet Stephanie Block and told her that something she said at the Robby Awards in 2003 has always stuck with me... About how special LA theatre performers are and how they drive 100 miles BOTH ways through traffic to play for 99 seaters for little pay because they LOVE what they do. I told her that I never forgot that and it's why I love LA theatre so much. She was so extremely gracious and so nice.

Got to see Justin at the Flea Market - his caricature table was VERY well placed, his booth was the first that many people saw as they walked into the Flea Market. All in all it was a good experience and I'm glad that I got to go, but the crowd and the limited space made the Flea Market very tiring and not as fun as it is when it's outside.

Will write later about seeing MEMPHIS (I haven't written about it AT ALL yet!) meeting Chad Kimball, whose talent I've admired for about 8 years before finally getting the courage to stay at the stage door and introduce myself to him. :)

Tomorrow I have some great food places I'd like to go lined up and then I'm meeting my friend Lizzy for an event for the start of the New York Musical Festival.
