After posting my little message...
...in orion74's journal a while ago about never having been called for jury duty... Guess what I got in the mail today? YUP, I have to report there on the 27th. :P Mark got one as well - he has to report on the 20th (though I think that's the day of his Mom's surgery and I wonder if he can postpone because of it?)

Been keeping busy researching for my web sites recently. I found it's been a good way of keeping my mind off other things - kind of a nice escape, really. I was also fortunate enough to have found some wonderful tidbits in my research - however, I can't put it up on the site until I get the okay from Kevin (and though it pains me a little that I have to wait, I wouldn't want to have it any other way). :)

I've been feeling really unproductive at work recently. Lately, I feel like I've been spinning my wheels and there's really nothing to show for it. While, at once, this new sales job is refreshing and rewarding (because I like the feeling of helping people plan for their future), in some ways it's also very NOT me... Can I have my old Admin job back? Please?

And one of my former Jaycee friends just got a job in our bank, upstairs in the department that occupies our branch's third floor. I'm happy that I'll be able to see him more often, but it's a little strange to mix my work friends with my personal friends... I'm not sure if that makes any sense at all. Sometimes I like to keep them separate...

I know you can get out of doing jury duty. My mom did and I heard it's pretty easy, if you have to go. My brother was supposed to go too, but it got cancelled.

We're going to have to call in to see if we're needed the night before, and I have no real objections to going, I just worry about Mark being able to see his Mom on the day of her surgery.

Jury duty seems to be a popular topic among my friends. :) So many people just don't want to do it. I honestly don't see what the big deal is. Others like Mark who have great reasons not to do it usually can't just blow it off so easily. The people who just don't want to do it ruin it for people like Mark by making it harder for people who have legit reasons not to go. I sure hope they'll understand. We can pray that they do anyway. Take care. *hugs*

Hopefully they'll let him postpone his date. I've never been called for jury duty before and I'm sort of looking forward to it. :)

Usually if you have a good reason, like a family hardship, they will
let you postpone or reschedule you jury duty. I got called about 17 years ago, and I wish they would call me again. It was very inter-
esting. I wish they would take volunteers, then homemakers like my-self could go, and some folks wouldn't have to miss work! Well, good
luck with it!

I think the last time I got called for jury duty was when I was in college and was living in CA. It was in the in-between period when I was still a resident of Hawaii, and had not established residency in CA. Thanks for your encouragement, I'll tell Mark to look into asking for a postponement. Hope your back is feeling better! Take care. :)

Sorry work hasn't been exactly what you want lately.
I hope it has some more admin stuff added to balance out.
Yay...keeping work and personal friends separate isn't an unusual desire. There are good underlying reasons.

Thanks Katie! :) You're always so supportive. :) And the work and personal friend thing... maybe for me it's because it's weird that this guy will know all of my bosses and he knows my personal side more than most people I work with. Maybe it'll just take some getting used to. :) *hugs* to you and your furry babies. :)

Hey, what else can I be? It's what I always received from you, sweetie!
Ah, the friend thing makes more sense now...
I agree.
*Hugs to you hubby and puppy!*

I can't believe that you and Mark both got jury duty notices so closely together! I'm sure that he can get out of or postpone his appearance due to his mom's surgery.

I know! What a coincidence! He got his letter last week and when I received mine yesterday I was pretty shocked - I mean, what are the chances? And I think we'll look into a postponement for him. Hope you're feeling better today. Take care!

That certainly is strange that you and Mark both got called so soon after posting that you never had been called before! If Hawaii laws are like Indiana's, then there will be about 30 people total who are summoned for a particular case. They will call 12 people, and attorneys from both prosecution and defense will ask them all sorts of questions. Mark definitely will be excused if that is the day of his mother's surgery, and most likely, you would be too. I was really nervous at first, but once I actually was selected, I really enjoyed the whole experience.

Thanks, Tom. I think it'd be an interesting experience too and since I've never been through the process, I think it'd be interesting to see what goes on. Unfortunately it all came about at the absolute worst time for us. :( I guess I'll have to see what happens. Please take care. :)
