And now it's raining. :P
In fact, it's raining so hard that I can't even open any of our windows. :P The good news in this whole thing (I guess) is that it's cooled down considerably! :)

Mark & I went around today looking for a DVD player for my Mom for Christmas. Unfortunately the ones we saw weren't exactly what we were looking for. We did manage to buy a "Finding Nemo" DVD for her to go along with the gift, though so it wasn't totally unproductive. :)

And I have to say, I have NO IDEA what to buy Mark for Christmas. Evey year I run into this problem, but every year I somehow manage to find something that he really likes. Electronics are out of the question since I have no idea what he'd want and I'm a poor person (remember I had my old computer for six years!) to judge what's good in new technology... :P I just hope that I can think of something before it's too late. I can't believe that after 5 years of marriage I can't come up with a good gift idea! :P

And every news station tonight did stories about today being the 62nd anniversary of the bombing of Pearl Harbor. It reminded me of my Dad telling me how (as a 15 year old) he rode his bike into town to do errands for my Grandmother the afternoon of the bombing and all he could remember were people on the side of the road who pelted him with stones as he rode by, calling him racial names and telling him to go home to his own country (even though he was born and raised in Hawaii). :P I know there are more important reasons to remember this day, but for my family and because it hits so close to home, it's unfortunate that this is what I'll remember. :P

It's funny reading how warm it is there and I am freezing here! I can never think of anything exciting to buy Dave either! I usually
end up buying him clothing, something frivilous though, and he likes it. I also don't spend the full amount on him and give him some cash to spend on himself at the "after Christmas Sales." Let's
face, men are just usually hard to shop/buy for!
Too bad about Pearl Harbor :(. The whole was the Japanese people
were treated in another dark chapter in American History. Everyone
was so shocked by Hitler's treatment of the Jew's and the USA was
not being so kind to its own citizens that were of a different ethnic group. Really ironic, isn't it? During WW1 several of my
family members changes their last names so that they could get jobs.
As long as there are ignorant people in the world there will be hate
and the like.

You're certainly right, Barb! Men are VERY hard to shop for! Mark buys all of his little techie gadgets himself. Maybe I'll buy him a gift card for the Apple Store or... I don't know. :P I guess I still have a little time to think about it. ;)

And I know that there are other ethnic groups who have gone through so much more than what I mentioned above. I guess I was just shocked when my Dad told me about it because I had always thought Hawaii was so diverse - and so liberal because of it... :P

I'm glad it cooled down some. Christmas gifts can be tough. I hope you find what you're looking for. What you wrote about your dad makes me so sad and so angry. It makes me wonder why there is so much hate in this world.

Thanks, Carrie. I hope I can find a gift that Mark will enjoy this year (and before Christmas might be nice) ;) And I wonder the same thing you do - all the time. :( *HUGS*

Christmas gifts for husbands can be really tough! Sorry that I can't leave you any advice because it might give away everything that I got Tom this year. :)

:) Ah! I wouldn't want you to give away your surprise gifts! :) Especially since you did such a great job of shooing Tom away from seeing it the other day. ;) I guess I have a little time to think about it - I just hope I'm not at the mall on Christmas Eve buying it! :P

To find a present really can be difficult. Esp. if somebody like e. g. our dad always says "I don't know" when you ask him. :) Actually, he already has got everything, is not interested in computer or something similar. Because we know he likes it we started to buy theater tickets. This year it probably will be "Aida". :)

Hope you had a nice day. *Hugs*

Theatre tickets! Your Dad is my kind of guy! :) And the thing that gets me is I'm so easy to buy for! All Mark needs to do is buy me a ticket to see Kevin in "Millie" and I'm a happy camper! :)

Hope you had a nice day too. Please take care. *HUGS*
