Too much holiday eating!
This has to end! :P This morning I went to a brunch hosted by my boss for the customer service reps in our branch to thank them for all their help throughout the year. It was great and really nice of my boss to host this every year, but being full from the previous night's dinner at Cheesecake Factory I could hardly eat a thing. :P

The thing that upset me this morning was that there are nine people are in our little customer service area and we invited them all, and they all RSVPed to say that they were coming. They wanted to do a little private Secret Santa for our group and exchange the gifts at the brunch. I reminded everyone about the brunch before I left work on Friday (as I was walking out the door)... but still three people didn't show up. :( There were six of us there and it was a nice small group, but a few people were left out during the Secret Santa portion of the morning, which I thought was unfair. The least they could've done was called us to let us know that they weren't coming. :( Still, we all had a really nice time, but for some reason, that kind of bothered me.

Last night it was storming! In fact, the thunder was so loud that poor Sydney kept trying to jump in my lap all evening as I sat at my computer. :P Every once in a while last night I could feel her wet nose nudge my leg and then she'd stand up on her hind legs and start to paw at me if I didn't pay attention to her nosing. Poor dog! She finally calmed down after I played with her for a bit, but she was really scared for a good portion of the night. :(

And I guess I forgot to mention that I actually went down and braved the mall across the street from my branch on the day after Christmas during my lunch break. I knew it was a crazy thing to do, but Shirokiya had an electronic sale and I saw a MD recorder on sale for $99 (normally the list price is $229) so I had to go. And well, I spent a lot of my GCs already - so much for Christmas money. And I know, I already have a few MDs but they're SO unreliable and I'm all about reliability.

I'm off to drink about a gallon of water (for some reason buffets make me so thirsty!) and cuddle up with my dog and watch the first season of "West Wing" (Thanks Mark!) :)

You know, it didn't rain hardly here. All I heard was thunder and saw some lightning, but that's about it. Not a lot of rain at all... Wacky.

OOOOOOOH an MD for $99? That is gooooooood! I haven't had or been in a shopping mood. That's what I get for being sick. Then again I haven't been eating either, so maybe I'm losing weight?

No rain there? We must've gotten it all! It stormed here! :(

And I was so excited about the MD! :) My others never record when I need them to. :( And I hope you feel better soon! Please take care, it would be awful to start off the New Year being sick. :(
Kananigirlkananigirl on December 29th, 2003 05:01 pm (UTC)
Yep...we had hardly any rain. I did hear about the hail. *L*

I'm slowly getting better. I just been coughing some, but I'm taking Vitamin C and Ricola *LOL*

Well, I hope the people who didn't turn up still decide to bring along their secret santa gifts because it's not fair that people are let down and have to miss out.

Poor Sydney, I hope she wasn't too scared by the storm, but your description sounds so sweet. I guess we're lucky that Tess has never been scared of things like that - we used to make a game out of them when she was a pup. She's not even remotely scared of firworks and thinks they're a big game, so we can quite happily walk her on Bonfire Night and she just wags her tail each time a firework goes off.
Sherishutterbug93 on December 29th, 2003 12:21 am (UTC)
I'm hoping they bring their gifts to work with them tomorrow... You're right, it is unfair. :P

Usually Sydney's pretty calm about things like fireworks, etc. The only things she really gets frightened of are things that shake the ground (earthquakes, really loud thunder, those horrible "bomb" fireworks, etc.) other than that, she's pretty good during the New Year. I'm hoping this year it will be a little calmer around our house. :P

We had a whole host of little earthquakes in 2002, it seemed they disturbed a fault when they were building the City of Manchester stadium. The biggest one we had was 4 point something or other and that absolutely terrified Tess.

Poor Sydney - *hugs* her. Luckily, Lauser is not afraid of thunders. You know what? On Sunday we had similar weather, no thunder but it was stormy with much rain. I think I used the only hour without rain for the walk yesterday evening. :)

There were six of us there and it was a nice small group, but a few people were left out during the Secret Santa portion of the morning, which I thought was unfair. The least they could've done was called us to let us know that they weren't coming. :(
Yes, I agree completely, it really was unfair. Still, it's good to hear that you had a nice time, all the same. :)

Hope you got enough to drink ;) and cuddle up with my dog ... sounds very good. :)

Wish you a nice day. *Hugs*
Sherishutterbug93 on December 29th, 2003 07:55 am (UTC)
Sydney thanks you for the *hugs*! :) It's great that Lauser isn't afraid of thunder. :) I hope the weather there clears up for you! :(

And I have to say, cuddling with dog on a cold evening like last night is one of the nicest things. :)

Hope you have a nice day too, Sabine. :) *HUGS* to both you and Lauser! :)

That is bad when people count on people to be there and then they just no show like that.

I'm so glad that Sydney Dog is feeling so much better!
Sherishutterbug93 on December 29th, 2003 07:58 am (UTC)
It was pretty bad, especially because it was a rather small group and so we waited for about a half an hour to eat to see if they'd show up. :P

And Sydney is back to her normal feisty self! :) Mark & I are once again enjoying her strong and demanding personality. ;)

Hope you have a nice week, Amanda! :)

Hey! I was at the Marquis yesterday and saw a letter on the bulletin board to Kevin Earley and I recognized your address label right away! =p He wasn't there yesterday and I heard he missed a lot of performances last week because he was sick. =( I really can't wait to see him in the role - Jan 7! I will be sure to tell you all about him. =)
Sherishutterbug93 on December 29th, 2003 12:54 pm (UTC)
Thanks for letting me know about him being out, Lauren. No one mentioned seeing him on stage and my first thought was... "Was he that awful?" ;) I hope he's better soon. And how funny that you'd recognize my address label on his Christmas card! :D And with all my praise about his singing - I'm almost afraid to hear how he was when you see him... Maybe you shouldn't have too high expectations, then you can be pleasantly surprised. ;) Hope you have a nice New Year in the city. :)

I want to go to Cheesecake after reading that.
It's unfair when people don't show up and make it not so great for others.
I'm glad Sydney has you to care about her. Poor dog. :/ I hope she's ok now though. :)
Sherishutterbug93 on December 29th, 2003 12:58 pm (UTC)
Mmmm....Cheesecake Factory was wonderful! :) I ordered the right thing this time. Mark kept asking me, "What did Carrie order when we went with them in September - it was something with chipotle sauce." He really wanted to eat what you had the last time. :) And Sydney's fine now. :) She just needed to know she was okay after all the ground shaking thunder.

I love Shirokiya! My mom worked there briefly when I was 4 years old -- I had to attend daycare for the first time and still remember how I was traumatized by my first meeting with the preschool teacher (she was scary!).
Sherishutterbug93 on January 1st, 2004 01:49 pm (UTC)
Shirokiya has got to be my favorite store! :) I was so sad when they closed the one in Pearlridge. :( Now there's only one left!
Mrs Beanshuman_beans on January 1st, 2004 01:55 pm (UTC)
You know I never lived there when there was a Shirokiya in Pearlridge? :O The only one I ever went to was the one at Ala Moana. That's the one my mom worked at. It was one of my only shopping requests when I was back in May for my visit.
