UGH...
The Acura girl finally got back to me with the estimate on the damages to her car... $1,053.00!! :P I simply can't afford that! :( I can't see how it costs so much to repaint her rear bumper. :P I guess I'm going to have to call my insurance company first thing tomorrow morning. :( Is it just me, or is that a little high for a scratched bumper?

In other less depressing news - I watched the Hawaii auditions for "American Idol" tonight. I'm not too sure if I want to spend three nights next week devoted to watching it. I guess we'll have to see what my interest level is next week - I've come to the realization that my newly found interest in watching TV takes up too much of my evening. :P I'm a little interested to see who else from Hawaii made it through, though.

I had a talk with my boss today who assured me that even if they aren't able to work with HR to create a position for me in the back office, that I'd always have my sales position available to me if I wanted it back (just not with my old boss). I was relieved since my main fear was that they weren't going to be able to keep me where I am and then tell me there were no options for me. :P

Kevin is going to be interviewed at Planet Hollywood tomorrow night (lucky Lauren will be there!) and Misty is going to be in concert with Jason Robert Brown at the Laguna Playhouse in LA on Saturday night. :( I'm getting the distinct feeling that I live in the wrong place! :P It's times like this that make Hawaii feel so FAR away! :(

that seems to be too high a price!! we had to replace our rear bumper a month ago cause some motorcycle ran into and left without stopping. Replacing it and painting didn't cost that much!!

Because it was an accident, the autoshop sent in an insurance guy to assess the damage first. He asked us to file it with insurance, and he quoted twice the amount of what it would actually cost! (And you go wonder why insurance gets expensive!!) So that might be what's going on...

yeah... think you should get in touch with your insurance people. or have another autoshop you know quote the price or something

Re:
I'm glad I'm not the only one who thinks it's a ridiculous price for a scratched bumper. I think it may be a good idea to have someone I know look at it. Hmmm... Unibody Tech? Wonder if Michael could help me out? (Yay for knowing people through the Jaycees!) :)

Re:
is that's what his shop's called? I always called it as Michael's shop..he he he... and his mechanics are good guys! Jenny and Su Gim have taken their cars there...

What? No way, that much for a paint job on the Acura? That is INSANE? Who in the world did she go to, to get that estimated? I agree with you, that is really high for a scratched bumper.

You know, I saw AI-Hawaii and it was pretty good. I thought one of the girls had a really nice alto voice, distinct. She sang that Fugees song. I was hoping to see that 16 year old girl from Maryknoll.

Re:
Thanks Rayna. :) I wasn't sure, but it seemed rather outrageous to me! I'll have to call my insurance company today and find out my next step. :P I just want this to be over with! :P

"American Idol" was okay. I'm guessing they didn't show all the really outstanding people last night. Some of the people I think they chose (especially some of the girls) were nice looking, but I didn't think their voices were that great. I'm still debating about watching it next week.

Re:
Did everything work out with your insurance company? I still think $1K is fishy for a paint job. Doesn't make sense at all.

Yep, I guess we have to watch Monday, Tuesday, & Wednesday to see what really happens.

That does seem a little high! I would call the insurance co too and let them handle it. Did you get a police report? I watched American Idol too. I feel sorry for the way they make fun of some of those people, but I guess considering their lack of talent, they should really think before they go to audition!
Glad to hear you have a job no matter what, since Hawaii seems so far away, you can trade places with me, and live in MI!

Re:
You know, we didn't get a police report. :( It was such a small thing at the time (just a couple of scratches on the bumper... But I am handing it over to my insurance company first thing this morning. :P I felt a little bad for some of those people too at the AI auditions. :P And I was totally relieved after the talk with my boss yesterday. I'm hoping that everything works out for the best and that I can stay where I am, though. :)

WOW! That is high... way too high for a scratched bumper... unless there was damage to the bumper itself, but from what you said, I don't think there would be. When I tapped a bumper in a very minor collision, it was $400 worth of damage...to basically buff the scratched area and repaint the bumper.

I didn't watch American Idol last night (we recorded it just in case I changed my mind though)... truth is, I don't even really care now. Hee hee!

Re:
I'm hoping that when I hand it over to the insurance company, they'll look into it. It seemed pretty high to me too! :(

And yay! You've broken free from the AI addiction! :) I wish I could say the same. I think there should be some sort of 10 step program for newly addicted TV junkies like me. ;)

Re:
Oh, I am sure I will watch AI over the weekend or sometime. I am just telling myself that I don't care... and hoping I believe it.

Good luck with the insurance company!

That seems WAY high to fix a bumper. Especially just to paint. Hmmm. I think that is way out of control.

The auditions from Hawaii were funny. Im not sure Im going to watch the season... I just like the beginning ones with all the people that dont make it. :)

Re:
I think it was pretty ridiculous too. :P I'll let my insurance company deal with her. :P

The Hawaii auditions were pretty funny. This is the first time I watched "American Idol" so I was pretty shocked at some of the people who had auditioned.

Christ, what's she doing, having new bumpers front and back? Or has she decided to have a new rear panel as well!

Re:
That's what I wondered as well! It was a bit too high, I think. :P
BOOM! goes the dynamite!mslauren2930 on January 29th, 2004 12:20 pm (UTC)
several years back I bumped the back bumper of someone's mini-van. it ended up costing me over $300. I'm not surprised that you're stuck with a bill that big. this is why I'm freaking out over the prospect of buying a car in the next couple of weeks. I would call your insurance company, however, and have them do an appraisal, because you're probably right that the bill is a little (more than a little) on the high side.

Re:
The insurance company will handle the claim with the Acura girl. They thought it was a little too high too so they're going to make her get another one from one of their preferred auto body shops. $1,000 is really high for two little scratches! :P

That does seem a little pricey to me. Maybe she had "other things" wrong w/her car and may be trying to say you caused them? I hope it all works out for you and that you don't get taken advantage of. *hugs* Take care.

Re:
I was afraid that she might give me a really high estimate. :( I thought she seemed like a nice girl, but I guess you never know. :P Thanks for the good thoughts about this, though. *HUGS*
