Yay for payday coming early this month!
My only problem is, I've already spent it all... :P

The surprise party we had for my boss was wonderful. She had no idea that we planned anything and even though we ran into a few snags (my co-worker getting stuck in 2 hr long traffic because of the nasty rain to pick up the food) she was really touched that we'd all do something for her. We gave her a joint gift, but then decided to all write our own separate cards with our own heartfelt messages to her and it was so touching because she started to cry when she read them!

What a great group of people! :)

On an awful and ridiculous note, the weather was so bad here that it took me 2 1/2 hours to drive home (usually a 1/2 hour commute). :P The ONE ROAD (which is only two lanes to begin with) to our house was closed due to flooding and fallen trees so I had to drive 10 extra miles to the next exit and drive through a military base to get home. FUN, fun, fun...

At least we were fortunate enough to still have power when we got home *knocks wood as I type*... My Mom is SO funny - she's the typical Japanese Mom... When she heard that there was a storm coming that could potentially knock out the power, what do you think was the first thing she did? She cooked rice! I kid you not... the woman is hilarious! :D

And I made a few more Avenue Q icons including the "John & Rod" one I'm using above. :) I adore John Tartaglia!!

Sherri, doesn't your camera have a self-timer? :P

gah...storm in Hawaii.. and there I was picturing myself in sunny Hawaii all day at the water park!

You are fortunate *knocks on wood, not to jinx you* that your TV doesn't go out! we get tropical storms every other day...and means no TV! :( and the traffic is just horrendous..so I feel your pain!

My camera does have a self-timer, but I usually don't like being in photos, that's why I usually like to be the one to take it. :)

Ah! No power would be awful here! :( TV I'm not too concerned about (since I usually don't watch it too much - but don't take away my internet! Ah! ;)

Your co-workers look great, thanks for sharing the photo. :)

...the weather was so bad here that it took me 2 1/2 hours to drive home...
I really dislike something like that. Many people here are not used to drive when it has snowed so much and a lots of cars (including my car) still have got only summer tires and to avoid that I will need much more time I drove not to La Douce today. Luckily, you can do it when it's a hobby and the other one has got enough time and you already know the weather. :)

Up to now, we never had a storm that knocked out the power but your Mom's thought to cook rice is great, I think. Rice is something what I like to eat always and I'll think of your Mom's thought if we ever should get such a storm.

Wish you a nice weekend with better weather. Please, take care Sheri. *Hugs*

They're a great bunch of people! I'm so lucky to work with such a great group. :)

Oh driving in snow is so dangerous! I'm glad that we don't have to deal with that (I'd constantly have to worry about my Mom driving if that were the case!) Luckily the rain seems to have stopped for now and hopefully the roads are better than they were last night! :(

Thanks for your nice thoughts about the weather, Sabine - I hope you're having nice weather where you are. :) Take care and *hugs* to you and Lauser! :)

That's a realy nice picture! It's too bad that you're not in it, too, though.

That story about your Mom is too funny!

Thanks! :) I didn't want to mess up the photogenic-ness of the photo by adding me in it. ;)

My Mom is too funny! One would think the first thing she would think about is charging her cell phone or looking for batteries for her flashlight, but no! She has to cook rice because she can't go an evening without her rice! :D

LOL!! I am just betting my mom got the rice cooked too! I wonder if my parents lost power. I meant to call them last night but didn't get around to it -- I will be calling tonight tho'. Do you live near Ewa Gentry? That's where they are.

I love the pic of your coworkers -- great looking bunch!

A coworker of mine is on Oahu right now and has been there for the last two weeks doing some training. When she first learned she was going, all she could do was whine to me about how she did not want to go at all. Send me!

It's so funny because my Mom is probably not the only one. ;) It's such a Japanese Mom thing to do. :) I hope that your parents weren't affected by the power outage! I know some homes in the Pearl City / Aiea area lost power and I think some homes in Mililani did as well. I know ours went off for a few hours (because all my clocks were blinking at me when I got home) but I think the Ewa area is pretty unaffected by the power outages.

And I do live in Ewa Gentry - the new development - across the street from Longs and Foodland.

And yes - when are you coming out here? Now is not the best time because of our storms, but tell your work you need training too! ;)

I talked to my folks last night & luckily they had not lost power. A tree is uprooted in their yard tho'.

They've been at Ewa Gentry now for 3 years I think so it's probably the 'older' part. They are moving in July to Ocean Point -- into a single-level home. I'm glad because the stairs are very hard on them.

That story about your mom, lol. That made me laugh so hard. I even told my dad and he smiled. :)

My Mom is too funny! She can't go without her rice for even one evening! :)
