Mind mush, poor "Millie" dog, and daylight savings time?
Today I came to the realization that I can't worry too much about the exam - I have to trust that I've prepared myself enough over the last month for it. If I don't pass, I certainly gave it my best shot and it's a TOUGH exam, I have nothing to be ashamed of. I reviewed everything today and vowed I'd sleep at a decent hour. The exam is all the way in town and I'd have to fight morning traffic to make it there in time and I want to get there early. :)

I've never been so saddened by news of a dog's passing before. Darren Lee, who is currently on the "Millie" tour keeps a photo journal of the tour cities he's been through and one thing I always looked forward to was seeing what his cute dog, Yukido would be doing in the next city. I looked at his journal the other day, and found out that Yukido had passed away. :( I sent him a little email to let him know how sorry I was, and he was sweet enough to send a reply back. I'm still so sad for him, that dog was obviously such a huge part of his life. :(

And similar to roopunzel, I guess I've never fully been able to grasp the concept of daylight savings time and since it never really affects us here in Hawaii, all I usually have to remember is that the stock market is going to close an hour earlier come Monday morning and I have one hour LESS to place all my trades for the day. :P AND now we're SIX whole hours behind the East Coast! :( Talk about feeling out of the loop - when I get home from work at six, you all (in your Eastern time zones) will already be asleep. :( Unless you're starstruck113, then you'll probably be keeping the same hours as I do. ;)

Good luck on your history test, Lauren! :)

And I'm sure I failed to mention this somewhere along the line, but I love your Amy Heggins icon! :D

Aren't you glad we don't have to put the clock an hour forward or back? Well I hear we do by a minute or so, but I'm too lazy to do that. *LOL*

I haven't talked to my friend about her mac, she doesn't seem to be on AIM right now. She bought a brand new G5 with a 23" flat screen. *L* She's trying to figure out how to use it, after using only PC for years.

I'm SO glad we don't have to worry about daylight savings time. :P

Wow! Your friend bought a G5? Mark will be so jealous! ;) Please let us know if she has any questions - Mark's a Mac guy through and through. ;)
Kananigirlkananigirl on April 4th, 2004 09:37 pm (UTC)
Yep, she bought a brand new really kewl G5 from the Apple store in Ala Moana. I want one for the pretty colors, but minus the crazy price.

She wanted to know if Mark knew of any free Spyware removal programs. She doesn't want to pay for one. She's looking to find programs, but can't find any for Macs.

Sheri mentioned that your friend had some Mac questions about spyware. Actually, with a Mac, you don't really have to worry about that sort of thing; as far as I know, I haven't heard complaints about spyware on a Mac. Some folks had developed the sort that you can install on your own computer (I guess if you suspect someone is illicitly using your computer, or something), but as far as I know, the type of self-installing, hidden spyware that can plague a PC shouldn't be a problem on a Mac.

If security is a real concern, Mac OS X (which should have come pre-installed on the G5) has a built-in firewall. You have to activate it yourself and set the parameters that you need, but I won't be much help here, though, as I haven't really used it myself.

Congrats to your friend on her new G5; makes my G4 PowerBook pale in comparison!

Thanks soooo much! I posted your reply to her in AIM. I figure that will settle her mind about the spyware. Gee, I wish PC would have something to deal with spyware without having to d/l a program.

She's trying to convince me to get a Mac. My cousin and uncle like their Mac computers. I want a powerbook if I ever want to get a Mac. I think a G5 is just too pricey for me.

Go for it! Always happy to have another Mac-convert.

PowerBooks are cool. I've always liked the portability-factor of laptops. If you're seriously thinking of trying out a Mac, you might want to think about an iBook. They're noticably cheaper than PowerBooks and have most of the bells and whistles you'd need. Good stuff.

Only thing I'm probably hesitant about is the programs. I don't see a lot of programs for Mac. I had heard from someone you can use Windows programs for Mac?

My friend works at the new Apple store in Ala Moana. If I see him, maybe he can eventually convince me to buy one. *L*

Indiana also doesn't follow Daylight Savings as well, except for five counties (one of which I live in!)

Well just goes to show you learn something new everyday! :)

Daylight savings time - in March they steal us an hour of sleep :( and in October we get back that hour. :) Here it shall help to save energy but it does not help according to some statistics.

I too send you *good luck hugs*

Thank you so much for the good luck hugs, Sabine!! :) *HUGS* to yu and Lauser! :)

I would say good luck, but you are probably either on your way, or taking or exam by now. Yes, I am a prompt one! Anyone, I will be thinking about you all day, and sending some positive energy and good thoughts your way! How long will to take before you get your results?
Sheri: Sydney - puppyshutterbug93 on April 5th, 2004 08:13 am (UTC)
Thanks Barb!! :) Actually I haven't left yet,... just checking in quickly before I get ready to leave! :) Thanks so much for the luck! :) I'll know by this afternoon whether or not I passed. :P

*HUGS*

Daylight Savings Time is supposed to have something to do with farmers, but I don't get it, either.

90% of Indiana doesn't do it (the part that is in Eastern Time) but about five counties (in Central Time) do and we're in one of those. Five minutes from us is Eastern Time Indiana, so it's confusing when we go out what time they are on.
Sheri: Side Showshutterbug93 on April 5th, 2004 06:08 pm (UTC)
That must be SO confusing if you live in one section of Indiana and have to go to work in the other! :P I'm glad that we don't have to worry about that out here. :)
