Right now...
...Sydney's very upset with us. :P She's running around the house like a maniac and when one of us tries to touch her she runs away. I guess it serves us right for putting her through the torture of her routine bath. :P I'd always thought that most dogs enjoy the water, and was surprised to find that Sydney can't stand it. We even bought a removable shower head to make giving her a bath much easier - but she still hates it. There's always a defeated, annoyed look that comes over her face when we're giving her a bath...

And afterward she looks like a skinny little mutt. She runs around the house, shaking herself and rubbing herself all over our furniture trying to get dry (we towel dry her - because she won't sit for a hair dryer...) My next challenge is to capture her so I can brush her. :P

Aside from giving Sydney a much needed bath, my day mainly consisted of reading for my next exam and listing my tickets for Avenue Q and Assassins on Ebay. I don't know if they'll sell, but I really have nothing to lose at this point since the tickets have already been paid for and I KNOW I won't be going to NYC in May. :(

Got a notification through the mail about Petwalk this year. Every year Mark, Sydney, and I try to participate in this fundraiser for our local Humane Society. Last year was the first year that Sydney walked the course (which is about 4 miles) and she did surprisingly well - prior to that, we've been going as volunteers for the event. I think we're going to take Sydney and walk the course again this year. :)

And yay! Mark finally completed our taxes! :) Okay, so we have to pay this year, but at least it's done (and it's not even the 14th!) and I won't have to get after him about it anymore. :)

I wonder why she doesn't like water?
Sheri: Sydney - puppyshutterbug93 on April 10th, 2004 10:24 pm (UTC)
I'm not too sure... Mark & I always thought of her as a rather "prissy" dog - she doesn't like to walk on mud and get dirty. :) I think she's been a house dog for too long. ;)
Care: lil carecareleswhisper on April 10th, 2004 10:26 pm (UTC)
Prissy dog...hehe, that's cute. That also explains it. :D

Happy Easter to you too, Carrie! *HUGS*

I sometimes wish I had that problem with Brock. He loves water! He doesn't really like the whole bath thing though (Like the sponge, towel dry and brushing). Give him a romp in the mud and sprinklers and he is lovin' it.
Sheri: Sydney - happyshutterbug93 on April 10th, 2004 10:32 pm (UTC)
Haha! I wonder what Sydney would do in the sprinkler? She'd probably run away! ;) Now Brock is more what I expected Sydney to be like. :)

*LOL* There is only one dog I know what likes water and likes to take a bath. She's my neighbor's dog, a lab & hound mix. The dogs I've had never liked taking a bath.

YAAAAAAAY TAXES are done!
Sheri: Stephanie & Kate Monstershutterbug93 on April 11th, 2004 11:04 am (UTC)
Before getting Sydney I was always under the impression that dogs just loved to play around in the water - boy was I wrong! :P

And woo hoo! At least it wasn't the 14th before we sent out our taxes this year! I think we're ahead of the game this year. ;)

Hope you have a nice Easter, Rayna! :)
Sabine: Lauser Kopfsabine10 on April 10th, 2004 11:25 pm (UTC)
How much Lauser loves the pond and the brook or puddles, a bath is a completely other thing. He looks like Sydney then and is doing the same things. I've to confess that I like to watch him. :) Yesterday I thought that Lauser could take a bath, perhaps I'll do it tomorrow. Besides, Susi also dislikes to take a bath. *Hugs* to you and Sydney :)
Sheri: Sydney - happyshutterbug93 on April 11th, 2004 11:07 am (UTC)
Sometimes I think it's so cute to watch Sydney in her little scrawny state, mad at us because she's wet. ;) She usually calms down after a while and then gets upset again when I have to chase her down to brush her! :P You'd think we'd all be used to this routine already, but we're not. ;)

Hope you had a wonderful Easter, Sabine! :) Please give Lauser a big *HUG* for me. :)
Carriecarrieh on April 11th, 2004 02:31 pm (UTC)
Is that Lauser in your user icon? He looks really beautiful.

Whilst I remember, Happy Easter everyone.
Sabine: Lausersabine10 on April 12th, 2004 12:20 am (UTC)
Yes, it is Lauser in my icon. Thank you for your kind words. He is one of my best friends and I'm glad that you liked him. :) Do you also have got a pet? Wish you a nice day.
Carriecarrieh on April 12th, 2004 01:35 am (UTC)
Yes, I've got a Sheltie called Tessa - she'll be 16 years old this summer.
Mrs Beanshuman_beans on April 11th, 2004 07:16 am (UTC)
Hee hee!!!

My little poochums, Roscoe, hated having a bath too. He needed one once a week at least tho' because he had a skin problem and would get to steeenkin'. (I adopted him as an OLD dog a few years back.) Poor Roscoe tho', come bath time he'd get the hunted/haunted look and then as I'd catch the little bugger and dump him in the tub he'd get the resigned look. He'd also shiver in the water all pathetic like -- even tho' I lived in California & it was like 90 degrees. After his bath he'd do the same as Sydney and go smearing himself all over the furniture -- it was pretty funny! I always gave him a treat after his bath tho' so he learned to endure the bath and dash right out for his treat...beef jerky, he only got it after a bath.
Sheri: Sydney - couchshutterbug93 on April 11th, 2004 11:12 am (UTC)
Haha! Sydney does the "shiver" thing too! It's Hawaii, for goodness sake! ;) She does look pretty sad and dismal when we are bathing her though and Mark has always said she looks like an alien dog - because her ears look so big without her fur. And you've given me an idea about the treat after the bath - that may work. Right now it takes her a while to forgive us for her baths... Maybe a treat would speed up the forgiveness process? ;)

My mom used to have to give our cat flea baths when I was younger... talk about an animal that hates water. But at least with a cat you can scoop it up in your arms (in a towel) and hold him that way. I thought most dogs liked baths... but I guess that is what makes each dog unique. Glad you were able to get her bathed though.

I know what you mean, I had to get on Joe to do our taxes... he was putting it off because every year we have to pay. Finally, this year, we aren't paying... they are actually paying us. =) My being unemployed finally helped us.
Sheri: Sydney - couchshutterbug93 on April 11th, 2004 11:16 am (UTC)
I know how difficult it is to give cats baths! :( An ex of mine owned a cat and we'd get SO many scratches just trying to bathe the poor kitty. :(

Yay for your tax refund! :) Getting money back is always nice. :) At least we're not paying that much this year. I'm just glad our taxes are finally done! :)
ajayne on April 11th, 2004 12:32 pm (UTC)
We had to pay $1575 last year which made no sense since I was unemployed then also... but for 2003 my income was even less, so it worked out better in our advantage. Had we filed separately last year, I would have made out like a bandit and Joe would have had to pay even more. Same with this year... filing alone, he would have had to pay a lot.

HEhehee!
My puppy doesn't like water either, Lol. Especially the hair dryer, so we just take her in for cleaning. Anyway, you seem like a really interesting person, and one I'd possibly get along with well, so can I add ya to my friends page?

Re: HEhehee!
Hi! :) I'd love it if you were to add me, may I do the same? I just went to your web page and it's great! And anyone with the user name hawaiianheart, I know I'd get along just fine with. ;) Thanks so much for commenting! :)

Re: HEhehee!
Sure, go for it :) Well, I'm not from hawaii, but I do love everything about it :) Ohh, and thanks for stopping by the site, I still have yet to add several things :)

He, he! I've got visions of her tearing round the house like Tess does after a bath. If you pop Tess in a bath of water she refuses to put all four feet down and will always stand in the water looking pathetic with one foot lifted up out of the water.
Sheri: Sydney - puppyshutterbug93 on April 11th, 2004 06:45 pm (UTC)
Sydney does that too! :) She always lifts one foot up out of the water - I always wondered why she did that! And Sydney knows now - whenever we take off her collar - that's bad news for her! ;) Please give Tess a *HUG* for me when you see her. :)

Mortie doesn't hate his baths, but he doesn't enjoy them either, I thought all dogs liked water too. When its really hot, Mortie will swim a little in our pool, but only for a little while, I guess it depends on the type of doggie. Mortie acts the same way Sydney does after a bath.
He's like a "crazed doggie" We have to give him a bath routinely, because if not, he starts to smell bad :( and I don't want to sleep and cuddle with a smelly doggie!
We still have not taxes yet, but we got 4 day yet! We only procrastinate to make sure we have something to do tomorrow! lol
Sheri: Sydney - happyshutterbug93 on April 12th, 2004 08:58 am (UTC)
I think it would be so cute to see Mortie swim in your pool. :) I'd always wondered what Sydney would do if we took her to the beach... My guess is she'd run away from the incoming tide. ;)

And we try to bathe Sydney routinely as well (but it doesn't seem to get any easier) :P. I agree with you, a smelly doggie is no fun to snuggle with! ;)

Good luck with the taxes! :) And maybe that's why Mark procrastinates so much. ;) So he'll have something to do the next day. ;)

Take care, Barb! :) Hope you guys have a nice week! :)
